The table is finished for my xl egg. Granite top. the frame is spanish cedar. Not only is cooking fun, but so is the table project. it was built to fit under the xl cover.

That is a beautiful table! You could make a nice "Lazy Susan" with the cut out round marble. Noticed even your tires are BGE Green!

No plans but i could pull some measurements if u would like. It is a modified version of the naked whiz table and the dimensions from the big green egg site.

I'm about to make one and I'm torn between the granite top or doing a nice wood top.

I like the look of wood, but feel like I will get better longevity with the granite.

If you don't mind, how much did that granite cost to cut and finish?

The top was $400. I like the granite because I can sit the dirty grate or anything else on it. Just wipe it down afterward.

Help me out here as I am an "egg newbie" - what is the "naked whiz table". I like your design of the skirt and the way you finished the ends with no sawed board ends exposed.

Just be careful to cover it as the granite will fade/change color with time in direct sunlight. I buy granite from a local outfit that also handles Lowes orders for Sensa Granite (treated). They have a lot of scraps they place outside on racks for cheap purchase if they fit your project dimensions. Often they have to cut off the exposed ends because you can see the difference of the exposed areas from those areas that had other granite sheets leaning up against them.

The exposed ends don't look bad, just different. If it was left outside uncovered it would change naturally so probably OK but I plan on using granite and a cover when not in use.
