Fixed issues on my old mini!

So I got a new band for my mini but it wouldn't fit since the newer minis are larger. That problem was fixed pretty easy by putting a layer of gasket around the top and bottom where the band goes. Then I started looking at new minis and realized the fire ring had changed and the cooking are was much bigger. The fire ring on the old minis wastes alot of space since it has like a 1/2" gap all the way around the outside so I bought a new fire ring which of course didn't fit. I tried sanding the fire ring by hand but that didn't work so I broke out the belt sander. It took about an hour but I now have much more surface grill space.

Much better!! Well worth the effort.
Good job. -
Save that old fire ring........I use mine for a raised grid by stacking the fire rings!

Thanks Rick. I am now happy with my mini again. Ready for camping season. Tomorrow I am devoting all day to hitting up thrift shops to find a #3 Griswold skillet for the mini.
