JAKE: 1985 - Feb. 20, 2011

  • Dean and Doreen...I am so sorry to hear this. As reading this, i think of our African Grey who is 10 now. Just couldn't imagine not hearing him imitate my cough, laugh, dogs names, singing "don't worry, be happy". You were definitely blessed with having him for so long. I am so grateful that I was one of the few that got to PARTY with him in OKC. Take care and know that we are thinking of you guys.

Dean, very sorry to hear about Jake. I was privileged to have him poop on my shoulder and didn't mind it a bit. I think he knew we were bird people. He had a very good full life. -RP

JL, SOOOO sorry for your loss! :( And you are correct, Jake was as much a part of your posts as your food pics were! He will be missed, but will not be forgotten. I'd venture to guess Jake is probably one of the best known Parrots that has lived! Thanks for making him part of our lives, too. :) Our true condolences.

Very, very sorry for your loss.

In addition to your wonderful cooks, I as the others always enjoyed seeing Jake proudly perched nearby.

So sincerely sorry to hear of your loss. Whether a pet has feathers or fur makes no difference - it's what was inside that you both connected with. We have lost 4 of our 4 legged babies in 44 years of marriage and every one still brings a tear. Trust me - we understand.

I'm so sorry about your loss. Eventhough OKC was our first fest last year, I could see how much Jake was part of the "gang". I'm really sorry for the empty space that this will leave in your heart. But God can heal.

Such sad news, Jake will be sorely missed. I always looked forward to your posts knowing he would be perched on the glass of tea looking over your cook. I kinda considered him the BGE mascot. It really hurts to know he is not with us anymore.

My heart goes out to you for your loss.

Oh Deane, my heart breaks for you on the loss of your friend. loosing a beloved pet is so hard. he was a big part of why I looked at your posts :) (the food did not hurt) 25 years ... what a lot you gave each other in love and stories. He was one of the eggers I had hoped to meet some day. hugs to you all.

I am sorry for your loss. Jake is probably my favorite bird ever, just based on how many pictures of him I have seen of him perched next to awesome-looking food.
