I bet that is a good way to spend a winter day up north. Throw a mini egg on the sled and keep some hot food at hand....the cold beer must be the easy part.

Think warm, think warm, think warm. It worked. We are 20 degrees warmer than it's been in weeks. 30 on Friday :woohoo:

Remember, Pineapples don't ripen, any more, after they have been picked. So quit letting them sit on the counter till they 'look' right.

fishless, I've never had much luck at 'ice fishing' here in TN. Usually pretty small and not had much luck in getting them home before they melt.

theres a stove in the sled and usually a pot of chili or stew or stroganoff. have a spot on the muffler to unthaw the beers as needed ;)

Thanks, I grew up in New England and remember how long winters can seem to last. I made sure I posted a good number today for all you that are missing some green. I've been there and done that.

Thanks Mickey, the birds are Black Skimmers. I don't know if they are found much further north of here. That strange bill is very thin if looked at head on and they are marvelous fliers that fly just above the waters surface skimming for minnows and other food by touch. This is a flock that likes to rest on the sand bar not far from my home. They were being very cooperative and let me get within about 15 to 20' with my big lens (1500mm) and tripod. The second photo on this page I think makes them look almost as graceful on land as in the air. I used to hear them flying over my house at night, it took me a while to figure out what they were because I couldn't see them but they had a call that sounded just like a small dog and I knew there weren't any dachshunds fly overhead.
    DSC_0484A_640.jpg

    DSC_0446A_640.jpg

I had to get way back from the flock because I only had my long lens with me and had to wait for someone or something to stir them up. Another photographer got to close to them and spooked them into the air. Later while talking to him he was very apologetic for spooking them. I laughed and thanked him because I never would have gotten the shots of them in the air. :)

    Hi Kendell

Great photos! I think you will find that your Indigo Buntings are actually Eastern Blue Birds. They are very similar and either one is a treat to have around your home. That's a great photo.
