Too heavy for raised deck?

LOL - better than having no period

Personally, I don't think that most decks would have any problem...It (the EGG) really isn't THAT heavy.
OTOH, I would put in on the lower, patio...
More for fire reasons that anything.
I had a wood deck, that I got rid of last year (it's now concrete) just because I was worried about fire!!
I've had a fire at my cabin at Whispering Wings :ohmy: :ohmy: ....So, I'm a bit on the cautious side of life these days

can we have a diagram with that? :woohoo:

(yes that's the truth. And don't miss the critical difference when you do the math yerself. Though there's no math required
)
That was what I was going to say. Does it hold you standing in one spot? Then I'm sure you are fine. That table's weight is spread out so you standing still is more stress on the deck. IF you feel you need more put a few cross braces on the supports.
My last house in Raleigh had an elevated deck. It was likely around 12-15 feet or so high. Maybe more. It was old too. It held a hottub up there for years without issue. When I had an inspection on the house the guy said he would suggest adding some support to it, but that was all. And that is night and day more than an EGG. LOL. -
If you are worried about 300-400 lbs of grill distributed across ~6'x2' falling through your deck, maybe you should build a new deck, cuz that ain't safe for people to be on.

What I learned from my post:
1) There are a lot of structural engineers on this forum :huh:
2) Fidel doesn't let anyone in his hot tub
3) I'm puttin the egg on the deck as soon as I'm done with the last coat of urethane
Thanks for those who provided input. Probably a dumb question, but figured if there were any past experiences someone would speak up. -
fidel lets you in his hot tub, but he doesn't allow you to wear anything but skin.
from the photos i have seen, when he has "the guys over" it's a veritable stew of hairless pink bears.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante
