Pizza and plate setter
Dukester
Posts: 36
Have done pizza on the egg once, plate setter legs down and burned up the gasket. Pizza was great. I'm thinking I might try again, this time legs up and put the stone on the grid. My reasoning is that with the legs up the heat won't be deflected from the plate setter directly at the gasket. Any thoughts?

Dukester,
Why not put the platesetter on the grid and stone spaced off it?

Thanks for the reply Steve but I'm not following how that would change the height of the plate setter in relation to the gasket -- legs up and I'm cooking well below the opening (tough to use the peel), legs down and the heat would still be deflected right at the gasket. I guess I don't understand the set up you're thinking of.

I took my gasket off top and bottom and installed a Rutland gasket just on the bottom. The hot temps do not phase this one. Although a lot of people on this forum do not even use a gasket.Large & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

Sorry, brain cloud, platesetter on firebricks on grid.

Is Rutland the same as Nomex? I plan on upgrading the gasket when this one is toast, just not ready to fry this one yet.

Thanks Steve, this makes more sense!
