I'm sure this has been posted, but I need a turkey recipe other than mad max. To be honest it looks like more effort than what I want to do.
Thanks!
Thanks!

LOL - follow any turkey baking instructions - even the one on the package! Rule of thumb is indirect, 325° dome 20 minutes per pound - done when breast is 163° and leg/thigh 175. The BGE will make a believer out of you, your family and your guests!
PS Do I fear Madd Max? no... do I think his recipe is a winner? I sure do, but don't get your shorts in a knot!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
stuff some veggies and fruit in the cavity, smear some butter on it, pour some white wine on it and roast it at 325. thats the basics of madmax, works every time. he has some other tips that will make it better but those are the basics. ill ad a half box of low sodium chicken broth and the ice trick does work but thats your call

One other little hint that will drive your smelling senses nuts during the cook and cause your neighbors to climb over 12 foot high fences to get to the smell is when you put your bird in the stabilized egg toss a large unpeeled onion in the middle of the hot coals!

did you consider doing a "search" of the forum...many use Max's recipe...but it certainly isn't the only method posted on the forum..

I tried this recipe out last week, Epicurious - Butterflied Turkey and it was delicious. I will be butterflying my turkey on Thursday...DavidBBQ since 2010 - Oh my, what I was missing.
