I unpacked my new Mini this morning, but the nuts & bolts to attached the hinge are missing.[p]Anyone know what type and size is used (stainless, galvanized, or nickle plated).[p]I'm ready to head to the hardware store, but need to know what to purchase.[p]Thanks in advance![p]Ed

Cheers,

GrillMeister,[p]I don't know what size to use...but I'd think stainless would be the way to go for sure!![p]Thoes briskets ready yet?[p]Chubby
I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!!

GrillMeister,[p]are you talkin bout the funny looking screws that don't have a slot to turn them?

  • eggor,[p]I'm missing whatever hardware is used to tighten the bands around the lid and bottom of the Mini. I don't know if they look funny or not yet. LOL

  • Ed, mine are 1 1/4 inch long and look like 1/4 inch diameter stainless. I think 1 and 1/2 might work as well or better.Nuts to tighten, of course. Do you have two mini eggs now ??

  • tn slagamater,[p]Nope, just one. I just haven't gotten around to it due to my busy travel schedule. Now I'm home till mid-January and I intend to have all 4 eggs cooking between Christmas and New Years. The in-laws (Orville the Egghead and Else) are in town and I'll be treating them to a Turducken for New Years. We found em at Central Market in Austin, so I don't have to order one, pay shipping and have it take up room in the freezer.[p]Thanks for the info.[p]Cheers from Sunny Austin![p]Ed

GrillMeister,[p]they will prolly look normal in the hardware store, but just about everything looks a little funny after i put it on.LOL[p]Scott

  • GrillMeister,be sure to make those bolts bend when you tighten the mini hinge. I had a hard time getting mine to bend initially, and the hinge and top dome came off during a lava cook...real exciting. They are bent and tight now. Best Christmas wishes to Liesel, the girls, Orville, and Else. I hope Orville is cookin' up a storm now !

tn slagamater,[p]The top on my Mini also just recently came off, after 2 years of using her. Luckily, no damage to the ceramic, but I can't get the nuts off the old bolts - probably gonna have to use some bolt cutters and start over. [p]I'm glad Grillmeister posted this question 'cause I'm gonna have to get some new hardware myself.[p]TRex
  • TRex,... somebody ?? on the Forum recently suggested spraying your hinges, nuts, bolts, eggcessories, and daisy top with WD-40 oil in the spring and in the fall to avoid rust and wear problems...GOOD IDEA...sure beats breaking Mr. Egg.
