Open Lid Steak Cooking = Flame Kissed ?

I was wondering if a lot of steak cooks leave the lid open when they cook steaks on the BGE.[p]I have always closed the lid, but it seems to dampen the flames. Would it be a good idea to cook steaks with the lid up? I picture the steaks searing in fully open flame.[p]Any thoughts will be appreciated.[p]
