Newbie question on Extender & Half moon
Alias
Posts: 2
Greetings, all - I'm a first time poster, and owner of a 2-week old XL BGE (so it hasn't learned much yet...)
I'm currently on my 3rd cook, as I write this. First time was a brisket and a pork shoulder, both of which turned out perfect, despite my letting the temps get too low overnight. (And I used one fifth the charcoal I ever used in an offset smoker, probably less...) Second cook was a couple of delicious top sirloins, which were fantastic, just using the instructions in the owner's manual, even though that's a fairly tough cut for grilling, of course (but still one of my favorites...) Currently, there's a pork shoulder, a brisket, and 3 corned beef cuts in the smoker (I love making my own pastrami!), which brings me to my question:
I looked on the BGE site for some dimensions of how high above the grill the extender and the half moon grid are, but I couldn't find anything. Would some kind soul mind telling me how much space there is between the lower grid and the upper one on either of these accessories? I need some more pastrami space!
Thanks!
Mark

4.25 inches. Good luck.

Just measured my half moon. 3" with drip pan in place 3 3/4" with no drip pan. Hope that helps.

Wow - that's the fastest time I've ever gotten on a forum - thanks, Turk & wkygriller! Sounds like I'm going to have to get one of each - the CFO won't be surprised by that - a bit disgruntled, perhaps, but not surprised....
