I am putting a request to Santa for a BBQ Guru for my Med. BGE. What exactly do I need? Too many choices. I have a medium egg now and hope to have a large also in the not too distant future. Can I get one that would work for both?
Can someone provide a link to what I should get?
Thanks,
Travis

i would go to the guru site. build your package, i have the DX with a 10cfm fan, the adapter will fit either the medium or large, so you should be good to go there. unless you want to run them both then you will need the cyberqII. but that should all work
-
any recommendation btwn the 8' and 10' probe meat and pit probe? What would be the reason I might need the 10'?
-
I had an XL adapter, then I bought a Lg for my 2nd egg. With a little work, you can get the XL adapter to fit both the XL AND Lg/Med.

Call them and tell them what you want to do. They will be able to answer all your questions.

Hey Travis, I have the Cyber Q with the 10cfm fan. It works really well. You can actually run it from your home network and via the internet. It will also allow you to run both of your eggs at the same time at different temps and alarms. You would need 2 fans though. Your set up will determine if you need the extended probes (where is the egg in reference to the controller. Good luck on your purchase. Oh and get the green one, might as well keep your colors coordinated.

Thanks for the tip! I do really like the idea of controlling via computer/internet. I built a table for my med.egg so I think the shorter probes will work fine. $350+ is a lot to spend on just temp control though.
And of course, I will pick green. If only it were green-egg green! -
I have the CyberQ II http://www.thebbqguru.com/ and for now I have the set up for one egg. I have two large eggs so all I need in the future is another adapter and fan and a set of probes. You may want to do the same because when you get your large egg your going to want to make a purchase from the ceramic grill store. :woohoo: Then you will think money.
I have to say It's all real nice and everybody has great customer support. Tim
Give BBQ Guru a call (800) 288-4878 ask them how to change you settings over the Internet cause I don't know how. Now I have USB adapters to cat5 wire and run about 50 feet to my basement computer room but, I don't know how to do it over the Internet.
If you have a Mac computer you may want to get a Stoker https://www.rocksbarbque.com/ then you can do it with a cell phone...you have a lot of studying to do.
Here is a past post about BBQ Guru and Stoker.

I got the basic Nano from "Santa" last year. It don't do the computer, but for me I don't need it. Once I set the temp it cooks. End of story. I just have to check about 10 hours later to see if I need more lump. They are much cheaper too. If cost is no object, then surely go big.

I use the computer when it's cold out and I want to monitor the cook from inside. That's just a perk. The real reason I was recommending the Cyber q was the fact that you can control multiple eggs at once.

Smokin' not stirred, I wonder if you could possibly do something for me one day. Is it possible you could take a picture of the street sign at the crossing of "Buzzards Bay" and "Butter Milk Way". and maybe the houses on the corner. The reason why is because around 50 years ago I lived there in Cap Cod and I may make a picture for my mother. I think she would get a kick out of that. Are you near that location? Tim

Have you tried Google street or google earh? May work for you. A picture would be much better obviously. Nice idea for your mom though. -
I am looking for it now but, I think I made a mistake. I don't see the crossroads. I see a place called Buzzards Bay and there is a street called Buttermilk Way. So, maybe that is it. Tim

i have the one that it comes with. the only reason i see to get a longer one is if you want the control unit farther away from the egg. the one that it comes with works great for me, my unit sits 18in away from my egg.

Okay - Santa is informed. Now, let's see if I can be nice until Christmas
-
It will tangle even more

i would be on your best!!
