    The Naked Whiz,
I had a conversation with John at BGE on a similar note, he suggest high temp clear silicone. The stuff is pretty strong and depending on where the part is it doesnt usually get to hot to handle....I have used it to hold my rutland gasket in place and it`s holding up so far....HTH[p]Wess

  • The Naked Whiz, I have used the contronics high temperature ceramic glue on two eggs. A 4 oz syringe (907gf) costs $10.50 from rmoreau.com.They are in N.C. over near you. It is grey in color but it works well and is good to around 2500 degrees.

  • The Naked Whiz,
I'm trying JB Weld. It said good to 600 degrees and this is at a place where the shell shouldn't get over 400 (the rim of the lower shell. I let it set in doors for about 7 hours and then I put it outside. Tomorrow I'll put the hinge back on and see how it goes.

  • The Naked Whiz,[p]I just purchased a small green egg. what caused the damage to yours? [p]I have tried to force the hinges fully open when I raise the lid as directed in the manual, but stopped short because I am afraid of breaking something. [p]Mark Miele
  • Mark Miele,
The hinge bands have a spot in front where they have punched through the band to form a little finger that fits into a hole on the bottom and top shell rims. This is to help you locate the hinge properly on the shell. This little finger was too long so that when it goes into the hole and you tighten the bands down, it presses on the ceramic and pops a chunck out. So I filed the finger down and used JB Weld to repair the chip.
