Am about to take the plunge and order a boned and tied prime rib roast from Lobel's. Needless to say, I want to streeeeeetch the most out of this purchase! Will a 2 rib roast be sufficient to feed 4 people? I plan to buy a 14 rib bone in roast and am pondering portion sizes before I ask them to to cut and package. [p]Thanks and oinks!

Pigasso,
2 bones should easily feed 4 people.

Pigasso,[p]I usually buy a 2-rib roast for 4 people, but I also serve sides because we're big meat eaters at my house. Without sides, a 2-rib roast would leave some people hungry, in my humble hungry opinion anyway.[p]TRex

Pigasso,
2 bone in is enough for me, my dad, and the dog gets the bones and a little fat. for 4 average meat eaters with sides, i would go 3 bones in.
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Pigasso, I agree with fishlessman, here is a two bone I did yesterday, and ate 1/3 of it myself. Removed from cooker at 123 F internal.

Rumrunner,
If I cook this 'on the bone', how does one cut the cooked meat to serve 2 people? Do you cut it off the bone and then slice it like cutting through the bone, if it was there? Or just lay it flat and cut into 2 pieces?

Jack asked "Do you cut it off the bone and then slice it like cutting through the bone, if it was there?"[p]Yes, that will work. Or, you can remove the bone and just cut it like you would a thick steak.

JackE,
here is a two boner, before and after slicing. ..when its done, i cut the bone off, then set it up right like it was still on the bone, and slice. .. . [p][p]
