TT IV,[p]Good lord YES! You'll never go to your favorite steak house again.
-
TT IV,
There is no and I mean no better way to enjoy steak. I cook about 90% steak on my BGE. The low and slow butts and briskets are great. Chicken and chops delish but to me steak is king. 2 inch min thick, seared Trex style and flavored with a mix of oak and peach chunks.Always enjoyed with a good cabernet or petite sirah. YumYum You will never want steak ( or anything else ) cooked another way. Trust Me

TT IV,[p]Folks who have eaten my BGE steaks always say, "This is the best steak I have ever had in my life." Very simple-- get the Egg up to 500. 3 min per side, to sear. Shut the Egg for 4 min -- steak bakes in the smoke, gets meltingly tender without drying out. Medium rare. Open the Egg -- carefully -- and take out the best steak you ever had.[p]Gas grills are nice, but they dry out the meat. Ceramic heat is both moist and smokey.[p][By the way, there is a better way of doing the steak, called TRex, but my way is for the lazy person.]

You tell me...LOL..you can see this cook and a couple other steak cooks on my website..in the "cooks" section..[p]Wess

TT IV,
Is it possible to get a good steak on this grill (lots of giggles).
My friend you will get the best steaks you ever had.
I used to go to 'The Palm' @ the Forum in Las Vegas for steaks twice a year. When I want a good steak I go there.
When I want a great steak I stay home.

The Big Green Egg is far better suited for doing steaks than most other charcoal grills and certainly far far better than most gas grills. Here is a link to my webpage about the TRex method of doing steaks. Make sure your speakers are turned up.... :-)[p]TNW

The Naked Whiz,[p]TELL me about it! I was breathing so hard from this thread I had to go make a steak myself! And now I feel...fulfilled. Sigh.[p]mShark
-
Nature Boy,[p]It's a method I use from time to time. ;-)[p]P.S. - I started the coffee table - tab is already up to $150 . . . .
-
I still think you should have bought the table. Keep us up to date on the developments if you will.
-
Alan P,[p]I don't disagree with you, but you know I kind of set myself up with such a definitive statement . . . .

-
I am also interested in how the table turns out. I recently built a permanent home for Eggvis and spent double what I thought I would. But the returns have been worth it ten fold! I ended up at about $150 and built mine similar to TNW. It was a challange, but man....I love it!

TT IV,[p]Here is one of 2 posts I have made on the subject. I can't get a better steak anywhere else but in my own back yard.
