Roasted Peanuts

Hi All,
I was thinking .... wouldn't it be great to roast some peanuts with some hickory or something! Has anyone tried to roast nuts in the shell?
I didn't see much "peanut" advice.

never seen smoked peanuts but i have had smoked pistachios in the shell that are very addicting. bluesmoke sent me some years ago with a rub and sauce order.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Roasting any type of nuts on the BGE produces great results...as well as smoking cheese...yummy...
keep your temps low with several chunks of hickory or cherry or apple...

Hmmmmm . . . the season for chestnuts being in the stores is approaching. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for them. When I was studying in Boston there was nothing better then a bag of hot roasted chestnuts from the sidewalk vendor on a nasty winters day. When I do peanuts I like to boil them and a crock pot is perfect for that. That would be a long 20 hour low and slow on the egg.

I'm not sure the smoke flavor would penetrate the shell, but might be worth a whirl just to see.
Worst case is you get to eat your mistake, and bet case is you've stumbled onto a terrific product. -
Maybe you can give the peanut shell a light squeeze before roasting to crack it slightly like the before-mentioned pasticio smoke... I would like to know more about this... sounds delicious!

we do them all the time, wife loves them. 350 indirect, start at 30 minutes, adjust to your liking, you can really adjust the amount of "roast" to your liking.
I have not noticed any major change in taste caused by whatever smoke wood is in the egg,so anymore I usually put them in when I am warming the egg up or after a cook

i like them salted in the shell, wonder if they were dipped in salt water then smoked if more smoke flavor would stick to the shellfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

AB has a recipie to coat them with peanut oil and salt before roasting, havent tried it yet, I may need to

I would use shelled, roasted peanuts and cold smoke them.
You can roast them in the oven or egg, shell them, then cold smoke them.I think you would get more SMOKE flavor that way.Just a suggestion. You could also just buy already shelled, roasted nuts if you did not wanna do all that work.I smoke/toast shelled pecans and we LOVE em.
