Just wandering if anyone can tell me what the hook is used for on the end of the ash tool? I use it to hook through the hole on the top of my daisy wheel when removeing it, to keep from burning my hand. But I sure there's a better use for it?[p]Thanks!

Ed G., You got it, and anything else you can think of. :-)
I use it for a hand stop on the wound end, and as a cast iron top hook and also use the flat end for a top grabber. heeee.
And in emergency for a hot grill remover! Makes a nice knobby end to the iron.

(BTW..IMO, there are two sizes..one for small and mini and one for medium and large BGE.) [p]

Ed G.,Thats an age old question.Answers range from one like you gave to locking the bands when opening the lid. I use mine for hanging on a hook on my egg table.

Ed G.,[p]That was my very first question I asked here on the forum back when I got my Egg. I never got an answer that made sense so I assume its made by a manufacturer somewhere and BGE says, "Give me a thousand". Like C~W said, whatever it is for you. I don't think it has any real significance to the Egg.[p]Tim

The answer is out there...it really is. hehehe

  • Ed G.,[p]It is my humble opinion that it is to keep the spring handle on if the weld ever breaks loss. [p]Elder Ward

Elder Ward,[p]My weld broke a few months ago, and that hooked end does indeed keep the spring handle on....amazing!! But I had to put duct tape all over it to keep the spring from sliding down the handle. Sometime I'll get it re-welded....
