Auber Instruments Controller

Anyone else buy one? Mine seems to have a dead blower. Seems like if I plug in the power, blower and probe, the blower should start blowing. Temp = 85, Set Point = 200, so blower should be full on. I've contacted them, but just wanted to be sure I'm not missing something obvious here.....

Just used it for the first time a hour ago. No problems with the blower."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

But you agree that the blower should be blowing in my case? I'm not missing something here??The Naked Whiz

I would think the blower should kick in. Fired the egg up and put the blower attachment on near the temp I wanted. I was just messing around with it on beer can chicken. Didn't need it for the cook but wanted to play around with it. Did you punch in the temp and set it? I had to re-read the directions a few times to make sure everything was punched in correctly."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Yep. I tried with the default of 200 and then bumped it up to 400. Nada....The Naked Whiz

Blower must be bad. I added more food on the egg after beer can chicken and the blower is still chugging along. I think we might be the only ones with the Auber Instruments controller here. I posted here a few weeks ago on this controller and no one said they had one."The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Yep. I figured for $100 I'd do a review of it. It is potentially a good match up with the NanoQ, but not if the dang thing doesn't work, lol!The Naked Whiz

You have a voltmeter? Check the output of the controller. I would assume it would be 12v or 5v, whatever the fan is. If you can get the correct voltage at the output to turn on and off, looks like it's the fan itself.

I read about those on the Auto Temp Controller page of a Weber forum. There's some good posts there on both Stoker & Aubers.

Best of luck. -
TNW, I don't have one but this caught my interest because I got a free PID controller and contemplated building a controller. I've bought a Stoker since. A future project is to build a sous vide controller with the PID and a relay switch.
Now back to your Aubers, if the voltmeter test (as suggested by Phil) proves there's zero voltage at the output port, I would manually reset the unit per step#8 in the instruction manual. Warning: do so at your own risk :P :silly: :woohoo: Good luck and keep us posted.
