Any opinions on Cooper brand tires?
I've been a Michelin tires man for 40 years, but right now I'm in need of 4 new tires for a vehicle I don't plan to have too many more months. Hence, I got to looking around and right now Farm & Fleet has Cooper Tires on sale at 50% lower than the written quote I got today for Michelins. Seeing I'm talking about $400 difference it's worth asking here! Thanks!

my last set were fine the first couple years but after that they were not good in the snow. now your not going off road in the snow i took them off the truck with about 20 thousand miles still left on them, they got that bad, but if your only going to use them a few months to a year it wont matter. some of the old coopers used to get really noisy, i didnt notice that with the last set. they wont be quiet like your Michelins. the bf goodrich tires i put on last time are incredible in the snow, its what im running when out on the ice on the lakesfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Thanks - since I posted this I've done some more research and have decided to not go with the cheap 60k miles entry level tires but their next grade up of 80K in case we decide to keep the SUV longer after all. At $100 a tire vs $70 that's still cheaper then the $152 Michelins I was quoted in writing today.

toyo seems to be the tire they are pushing around here now, looks like a smoother driving tirefukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

I've had Michelin tires for years. Currently have 81,000 on my truck tires. I'm at a point where I need to replace them, but going through the same decision as you, replace them with the more expensive Michelins or something cheaper since I may trade the truck in a couple years. I'll probably stay with the Michelins since we pull a fairly heavy 5th wheel and I have confidence in them. Good luck with your decision.

well the Cooper's are now on and I bought the 80K mile CS4 tires. All said and done it cost me $497 yesterday, but I'll get a $50 rebate from Cooper. I'm pleased.

That's probably a good deal. My old Michelins cost about $200 a tire, the new Michelins are being quoted at about $300 a tire. I thought $200 was bad, can't believe they're up that much.

Also look at the Yokohama's, I had a set and they were very quiet and lasted for ever, and that is on a ford 4 door truck.
