I have a cedar table that has been stained. Do I need to seal it as well?
Thanks!

If it is in the weather - yes
If it is in direct sunlight - yes
If you don't want food/grease spot - yes

If you want it to age like "deck lumber" or siding - no

Sealing it simply protects the wood from the elements.. if you use a marine type sealer with UV protection, you can get 1-2 years before you have to recoat it...

All in all, it a personal choice on what you want ... here's mine two years after the sealer was put on (gets direct sunlight but not much rain)...

  • Ditto to what BBQMaven said. It also depends where you live and the weather there. I live on a rainy island out in the Pacific Ocean (Vancouver Island) and if I didn't seal it I may as well make another one next year! Mine is Cedar too.

    Yes.

Also use a cover and it will last a lot longer.
