Has anyone ever cooked a turkey and another large piece of meat (e.g., prime rib roast) on their Large at the same time? I imagine you could do it if you used a two-level grid and removed the firering, but I was wondering if anyone has tried and had success.[p]A buddy of mine has a Large and wants to do probably a 12 - 15 lb turkey and a 2-bone-in prime rib.[p]Thanks![p]TRex

TRex,
i think if you pulled the fire ring, you;d be way too close to the heat. . not sure how you would deflect it enough for either the roast or the bird. . .seems to me, he needs a second egg!!. . either that, or i'd do the bird first, cause it can 'sit' longer than a rib roast, and since its only a 2 boner, it won't take that long for it to cook. .. just my opinion, but lacking a second egg, i think that's how i would handle it. . .do the bird, foil it up and let her sit, whilst i do the roast, make gravy, etc. . .then be ready to serve dinner right when that roast comes out of the egg. ..

TRex,
I did a 16 pound turkey a couple of weeks ago. There was room for a larger bird, but I think the rib roast would be squeezed.

mad max beyond eggdome,
I second that. I can't imagine either the bird or the beast would do well being dripped on by the other, even if you could manage to set up a two-tier cook. Your suggestion of wrapping the bird seems just right to me. FWIW.
Cheers,
G.

mad max beyond eggdome,[p]I concur. That's the advice I gave him. Bird first, wrap, cook roast, devour food.[p]Thanks for confirming my thoughts,[p]TRex
