Holy Cow! Anniversary Present

My apologies to Phil Rizzuto.
This morning, started setting up to smoke a cut of salmon, on a trip back in a present was on the table, opened it and:

My wife loves egg food, but I didn’t even know she knew about these things, wasn’t even on my radar. My large has been chugging along all day, for a while at about 190, now at about 225 with some chili on. Hardly a glance from me.
I did get a lot of smoke back out around the adaptor plate when the fan was on – typical?

Congratulations.
I only get noticeable to a lot of smoke coming out of the blower adapter if the DFMT is shut or almost completely shut off or when there is some air restriction up through the lump bed and or if the blower slider is wide open.
Which blower did she pick up for you?

Hey Bill, I don't get any smoke back. You might want to check adapter plate to make sure all is installed right, also the slide damper on the fan only needs to be open 1/2 or less for low and slow cook. hope this helps.

SWEET, SWEET, SWEET... She may be a keeper!

I had the same issue when I first got mine. I mover that expanded clip to the left side up top and I then push the draft door over top of the right side of the adapter. Holds it really well and the smoke no longer leaks out around it.

Eggers Prayer-
Our egg, which art in sizes, hallowed be thy smoke, thy will be grilled, at home as it is at eggfest. Give us this clay our daily brisket and forgive us our rubs, as we forgive those who gas grill against us, and lead us not to flashback but deliver us from overnighters. For thine is the grill, the smoke, the egg. Let's eat!

Happy Anniversary Bill!
What a thoughtful present from your wife. -
Got the 10 CFM, that little fan can blow.
I'll try messing with that adapter plate, I did kind of slap it on quickly 'cause I was excited to use it. -
Congratulations...I guess they do listen when we are talking.

The Viper will work just fine. I usually close the damper down to 1/3 or 1/4 open.
