I am looking at buying a dehydrater to make jerky and found the big green egg...can you make jerky with it? If so how do you do it and how many pounds can you make at one time? Thank You

Yes you can and it is great. I usually marinate about 5-6 lbs. thin sliced rump roast. Go to gfw's website for River City Beef Jerky. It is a good starter recipe that can be modified.
I cook indirect for about 7-9 hours at 200.
Don't use a bunch of wood, it might come out bitter.[p]CWM

Justin,[p]I smoke/cook mine at a higher temp for about 4 hours. Using a rack, one can get 8-10 pounds of raw meat on the egg at one time.[p]

Justin, An egg and a dehydrator are not the same species at all. Yu can make really good jerky with a 30 dollar dehydrator. I've done a ton of it. The egg is a great smoker and grill, and a fairly decent dehydrator. I use my egg to smoke the jerky til it reaches 140-145 degrees, then finish it on a dehydrator.
