This morning cut up about 2 pounds pork loin into strips.
The strips marinated all day with Patak's Spicy Ginger & Garlic Marinade & Grill Sauce equally mixed with plain yogurt.[p]
![Kabob1.jpg](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/Johnkovo/Kabob1.jpg)
After work, cut up red pepper, pearl onions, mushrooms and the garden's last zuchinnis and coated with the tandoori/yogurt mix.[p]
![Kabob2.jpg](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/Johnkovo/Kabob2.jpg)
The heat reduced the wet marinade to a nice thick and slightly chrispy coating.[p]
![Kabob3.jpg](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/Johnkovo/Kabob3.jpg)
The aroma and flavor was spicy, smokey and tangy and we ate too much.[p]

WooDoggies,[p]Looks fabulous! I'm going to have to order up some Tandori tonight for dinner. I wonder if I'll find an Indian restaurant in London?

GrillMeister,
England is great. Try ordering a cider and black. It is hard cider with a shot of black currant juice...awesome!!! Goes well with the bangers and mash!

WooDoggies,
I've never heard of anyone mixing yogart with a marinade. I'm curious what that is for? i.e., taste, texture...[p]Thanks in advance.
-
WooDoggies,
Your pictures are so pretty I just had to go to the store for ingredients. Will try with chicken.

Frank the Tank,[p]From an article on the net:
"A tenderizing marinade contains a food acid or a tenderizing enzyme.
Acidic ingredients include lemon or lime juice, vinegar, Italian dressing, salsa, yogurt and wine. "[p]Yogurt is commonly used in Indian cooking.[p]

WooDoggies,

Thanks.... they did taste good! But in all fairness, WooKitties, who is not afraid of smoked foods, said the kabobs would have better without the chunk of cherry for the added smoke..... as true tandoori would not have such a pronounced smoke flavor.
She's right, of course, but I still thought they were good and because she said that, it gave me the excuse to horde the leftovers for myself..... which I just polished off.[p]PBR's!

Hey Ray! If you've got other food going on at the party, 1 kabob per person should be enough... well, maybe 2.
Have fun and let us know how they turned out.

Frank the Tank,
The yogurt is traditional for tandoori and besides it's being a tenderizing thing, it gives the whole dish a tangy and rich coating.... it's very good and very easy.

badbruce,[p]Good Luck..... take pictures! :~)

WooDoggies, John is that sauce something you will find in most oriental food stores. I did a Google on it and only found 1 store.[p]Bob[p]
-
Hey Chrispy,[p]You should be able to find the Patak's stuff at most good grocery stores in the international or ethnic foods section.
I'd suggest calling around. I'm sure you'll be able to find it locally.[p]If you can't find it.... make your own![p]Basic recipe is:
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons ginger, ground to a paste
2 tablespoons garlic, ground to a paste
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoons oil[p]or you can substitute all of the dry spices for about 1 to 2 teaspoons of garam masala powder but I would go with the above spices if you can because garam masala can be very different from brand to brand.[p]Happy Cookin' Dewd
