Hi all,
I'm going to do a BB this weekend and was thinking of trying a different rub. I usually use the 'Slap yo mama butt rub' recipe but I've run out and thought this might be a good time to experiment. Do you usually use a store bought rub or is there a recipe that you're partial to? Thanks!

I use Dizzy Dust coarse grind. Great stuff! I'll be doing a couple of butts tomorrow. I'm going to inject them with Fab P that I got from Fred Bernardo. He has an excellent Pork Butt video on his site.

Try Bad Byron's Butt Rub. Good web site, too.

Only one I've ever used on a butt...

    1 tablespoon salt
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
    1 tablespoon ground cumin
    1 tablespoon chili powder
    1 tablespoon cracked black pepper
    1 tablespoon paprika
    1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I actually like a blend from a local guy here in STL, Uncle Bob's Butt Rub. He's got a nice product. After that, I'm big on Dizzy Pig's Dizzy Dust.

Interesting how many references to Dizzy Pig rubs on this site and others. I live in Italy so mostly make my own and would add mustard powder to some of the above and cumin never hurts. Next time I am in US will buy some DP to try. Andy

I live a few miles from the Loveless and did not know they make a rub. I will have to check it out.

thanks for all the replies everyone. It's been a busy 2 nights and I don't have time to get supplies for what I'm missing for all of the recipes. I've got a bottle of Dizzy Dust (regular grind though) that I've never used, so based on the number of replies for this one, I'll give it a whirl. Butts go on at 7- can't wait!!
