Its all gone ... pans practically licked clean. Scavengers came from far and wide. I think the feeding frenzy lasted all of 15 minutes for 24 lbs of pork. I cooked 10 lbs of taters for tater salad, 1 giant can-o-beans and 48 cookies ... its all gone. Only 25-30 people.[p]Makes me feel alot better ... it was rough/hard work last night. Rain pouring down on egg was causing upper pork temps to drop even though the egg temp was above 250. I kept telling my wife I didn't know what the he__ was going on ... 1st time for everything I guess. Outer shell was cool to touch on top and hot on lower half after 8 or 9 hours of cooking. The rain really messed with me. Lower pork chugged along just fine all night. I ended up ditching the plate extender, foiling them all and craming the 4 butts on one level. They finished at 4:30 this morning ... 16-1/2 hours for 6 pounders - a little short of what I was averaging with my medium. I let them rest in the cooler until they dropped to 160 then I pulled them (4 hours in cooler). [p]Judging from the clean pans and smiling faces ... I think I got the gig for next month and maybe next year. All smiles here ... but I need to practice with this large egg.[p]Doug
