Minor New Table Problem

Stupid me I measured 11 inches instead of 10.5 and now I have 22 inch hole for my large green egg. Any suggestion on problems or fixes without replacing top shelf.

Well your .5" larger opening will not effect anything other than astetics... you can try to just live with it.
A kerf cut filler strip is possible to make the bend of the inside radius but it's a lot of work and then there is heat from the egg that will affect whatever adhesive is used, so a tricky situation all around. (excuse the pun) Too bad wood does not stretch.
Actually it's better to have the opening too large than too tight so no harm done functionally. -
I would get some decortive smooth rocks and place them all the way around the egg so it looks like you are just being creative.

Actually I just finished my table and I would have welcomed that extra .5".
even after I took a router to the edge I still think 21 is too tight. -
Thanks for the tip. That is good news. I am always concerned with heat issues and this will help.

I too feel like 21" is a little snug. I don't worry about heat issues, but my BGE egg cover will not fit down around the egg with the narrow gap. If I had it to do over, I would make the cut 22"

Thanks for the input!!! I needed it.

Just tried to drop my large into the granite table top - and the guy at the granite shop used the wrong template... I would give anything for having an extra inch rather than having my egg 'floating'!!!There are worse mistakes, trust me on this.

without a doubt,21" is too small.I see there are others with the same problem as me.My large egg is sitting on a 1 1/2" stone with 15" from bottom of egg to top of table surface. As the egg was lowered in ,it squeaked into the hole with no clearance around.I will have to raise the egg another stone thickness but nothing has burned yet so I leave that for another day and keep on grill'n.
