Went out today and purchased a cast iron skillet for the egg. Never grilled with a cast iron skillet before so I was up for a challange. Went to the grocery store and bought red, green, orange, and yellow peppers, tortillas, along with some boneless chicken for dinner. Just added some Famous Daves poultry rub on the chicken and added olive oil to the skillet. Threw the peppers in towards the edd of the cook and called it done. Put chicken, peppers, and a dash of ranch inside the tortilla and dinner was served. The only problem was it tasted just like it tasted made from the stove. Everything I have made in the past 3 months on the egg has a new taste to it. Everyone else enjoyed them but I thought it was plain. I realize this isn't much of a recipe. So I'm wondering what are some good recipies where I can justify the use of the skillet on the egg instead of my basic stove top? Thanks for the help!

Dumb question.
Why are you using a skillet to cook it? Why not just grill it on the grid with wood chunks (I like a smokey taste to my fajitas - beef and chicken.)
The flavor should also come from the marinade. I like Penzey's Fajita Seasoning, lime juice, EVOO, and tequila.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -

Try this. It's worked for me on several fajita cooks.
Grill the meat (whatever flavor fajitas you want tonight) direct over a hot fire. Remove, cover and rest.
While the meat is resting, put your CI skillet over the fire and saute your peppers and onions.
When the peppers and onions are nearly done, slice the meat into strips and add them into the skillet with the onions and peppers. Toss and serve.
If you want to come off like a restaurant, take a separate CI fajita pan, heat it over the fire and plate to that from the cooking pan. Sizzle, sizzle.
