what might be good is a category forum, once friday is over its all posted in one section and locked, that way anyone wants a pork chop recipe they click on pork chops and get a hundred different recipes and techniques to look thru just on pork chopsfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

just kidding hitch!! ...yeah, the throwdowns got way out of control ...started off as a caveman cook, couple of simple ingrediants with no extra tools/stuff, and then went crazy from there....
i like this idea, if i understand you right, i just name a single ingredient for the weekend, say something like pork tenderloin or flank steak (or something more exotic) .. .and then see what everyone posts on sunday night. ..no voting, no winners, just see what everyone comes up with, recipes, successes, failures, etc??
ok, i can do that...problem this weekend is that i will be up in bel air competing on friday and saturday, so i will have to post this by thursday night if thats ok with everyone, and i might not even get around to cooking something myself....or we can wait till the end of month to actually start this ....do it on labor day weekend... -
   you have already complicated it, its only done once a month    pick snails

Fish----love it. Could turn out to be a very good place to get a lot of good options in 1 spot.
MM - Your dagumm pic of that crisp got you elected.
Actually, you are more off the hook than you might think. You are right on as far as the simplicity of what your job is, but you may have missed these details.
This only would happen once a month. Basically, to make it easy, and on a typical cook night for me, :silly: the First Friday of each month would be the cook night each month.
Your job (as Mayor - not judge since this ain't a competition) at the end of the following Monday would be to select the the next First Friday's Mayor.
So,mayor, what say ye? -
Cuz you da man

I like the idea -
I like it Hitch!!
I figure I'll just cook mine on Saturday and nobody'd be the wiser.

Goobered it up again. Seems like this is happening to me a lot lately.

I'm in regardless of when it starts (if I can afford the secret ingredient). Sounds like a fun thing to do. Good idea.

Gotta love the earth tone in it.
I tried a bottle of Hendricks within the past 6 months to a year ago, and liked it, but given its reputation as really unusual, special, and cucumbery, I was surprised that it didn't seem more of a standout. I really didn't get the cucumber flavor much at all. I've heard some people say that Hendricks was "designed" for people who are used to vodka and are a bit put off by the juniper flavor of classic English-style gin. I'm not much of a vodka person, so maybe that's my "problem" with Hendricks.
I'm still a Tanqueray kinda guy. Been drinking it for years, my favorite gin, my favorite liquor, overall. Once in a while Bombay Sapphire is a nice change in a martini, but the botanicals are a bit too sweet for me to want it all the time. Tanqueray Ten was a bit that way, too: great, but not what I'd want all the time. It's (regular) Tanqueray for me.

Hitch, this sounds like a lot of fun. I'd love to play along.

I think Gin and Tonics is a bit of waste of good Gin anyway. A proper martini is the way to go to really explore a gin.
Having said that, it does make a pretty damn good GnT. -
Its the first Friday of the month...is anyone still thinking about doing this? Maybe I missed a post with a new subject announcing the main ingredient. But then again, maybe no one wants to start on a holiday weekend with a hurricane moving its way up the east coast.
I could do without the wind but here in eastern PA we sure could sure use some rain. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will get much, if any, where I live.
