How to stop viewing Troll posts.

We had somebody lurking and posting yesterday that was just trying to push buttons. I almost fell for one with an equally stupid response. To protect myself from myself, I just checked the 'ignore guest posts' in my profile. Unfortunaltey, it stops the legit guest posts but the Trolls are gone!

I have always suspected that many (if not most) of the troll posts are from registered users just wanting to start some trouble.

I understand that the room monitors can post the I.P. addresses of posters. So, unless the troll is using a proxy server, his/her identity would be revealed.

I think that would stop a lot of trolling.

Maybe if we just had a check mark option to indicate that we no longer want to see that particular poster again.

Kinda like the one in my brain that says "pay no attention to that poster."

This may have backfired on us a little bit. I too checked the box to stop viewing a couple of weeks ago. Then I noticed a response or two to a post I could not view, so I un-checked it. What do you know, everyone's favorite troll was calling someone names [a newbie of course] and using very derogatory language in his reply. Seems he realizes he can post with some impunity because many of the folks willing to call him out are nolonger seeing his posts. No one challenged him at all.
In the long run this can't be good for the forum :(
