Replacement grid for large BGE

Unknown

What is the best replacement grid for a large BGE. We're told that the Weber won't fit. We'd like to get stainless steel if possible/affordable. We're not great fans of the porcelain coated grid, but it did hold up well for two years.

    bk,
BGE has a cast iron grid for the large egg that will last a life time...I think it cost $39.00 in Atlanta at BGE.

  • YB,
Is cast Iron hard to keep from rusting? I live on Miami Beach, rust is always of concern here. How is cast iron for keeping clean? We liked the idea of stainless because it's smooth. But we're open.

bk,Webber does have stainless grills that fit the large Egg.Lowes, Home Depot, or most hardware stores carry them but be sure to measure before you buy. The sizetags on Webber products are not the same thing as the grill diameter. The BGE porcelin grill is a better product and easier to clean than stainless IMO.

  • bk,
I'm surprised that you have had to replace your grill in only two years. Mine is two years old, and still in perfect condition (near as I can tell under all that crud). What happened to yours?[p]By the way, on that rare occasion that I decide to clean mine, I only use a Dobie, no wire brushes or anything like that. My old gasser had porcelan coated cast iron and I used a brass brush on it a few times, and poof!... no more porcelan.[p]I also have the BGE cast iron grill for searing (beautiful sear marks!). It seems to have some sort of coating on it as well, so I doubt you will have any rust issues as long as you don't marr the coating with agressive cleaning techniques. I find that soap, water, and a Dobie is all that I need to clean it spic-n-span.
