Spider Rig & Searing Steak.

Ok, I have been using the Spider Rig w / Sml. CI. grill. I have NOT upped any dome temps much pass 400-450d's. as the meat is down close to the lump that burns close to 1700 d's. The steaks are great, and about med. rare. No super char, but the results are delish. Any problems or adjustments seen / needed here? Thanks Ronnie.

    I use the same setup, but get it up to 600° for the sear. I tried 500° once, but I thought it needed a bit more crust. Hey, you said your results are delish.. Why change it?
  • You are living my dream. I hope to get a small CI or a grinded medium for my spider. There is a serious lack of stocked egg dealers around here.... :angry:
  • I go balls out on the sear temp, I love the way the heat and the cast iron destroy the outside fat rim - with the S&P seasoning - that fat is almost as good as the steak

    Amen to the lack of stocked local dealers. I went into my local for about the 4th time today, hoping they had a 13" CI in stock. No joy. I finally just went online and ordered it rather than give them the business.

    Yes, there is a shortage of C I. It starts with mfg. If the mothership ain't got em they can't ship em. I know they are working on the problem. I could use about a doz. lg. right now, our custs. are awaiting. :):) to all.
