I know there's a ceremonial lighting of the eggs that I can not make it for. The wife and I are hoping to get there around 11 or 12. Our interest in the fest and the timing coincide with nap time at our house for our spawn. To see what we want to see, we were forced to arrange for grandparent care for her that day.[p]My question is, how does this thing work? When does food start coming off of the eggs? Does it happen all day? Also, what other side events or activities are there (raffles, bands, etc) and when does that stuff usually kick in? [p]If we could get there at the start and stay until midnight we would, but between being parents and Auburn fans, we have a lot going on around the fest, and I am trying to best optimize my time there.[p]Thanks everyone for your help and info.[p]Todd

Mark Backer,[p]Food should start comming off eggs within 20-30 minutes after the start. Things usually starts slow (alot of seeing old friend and meeting new ones) and builds to a "Crescendo" around 1:00 or 2:00. In the past, there has been so much food, you'll be full and "almost" unable to taste more ... pace yourself! [p]Smokey

Dutch,[p]We're hopefully going to be too loaded down with having to carry our mini egg that we'll win to carry a tv. LOL
Seriously, we haven't decided yet, but we may just tape the game and hope we don't hear too much about it.[p]

Mark Backer, you will receive a bag of BGE goodies when you check in. They have a drawing of other BGE prizes(pizza stones etc) around 3pm which takes about 1/2 hour...that usually includes a mini egg as grand prize.

Smokey,[p]That's good advice, Smokey. However, don't rush to judgement on when I will be full. I have, in the past, amzazed my peers with my ability to push past conventional full, seemingly completely full and rushed right into complete gluttony and overindulgence. [p]Also, do I bring my own cooler and cold beers, or do my tickets get me some coldies?
  • Mark Backer,
i'll be sure to save you an escargot for when you show. .. lookin forward to meeting you and yours saturday so we can discuss our favorite sitcom episodes :)

mad max beyond eggdome,[p]What's great is my wife has been and is very excited about the egg fest. [p]That is until she realizes it's just folks like me talking about the egg, drinking beer and acting stupid out in public instead of at home.[p]You will recognize us because I will be the guy with the wife who looks like she just realized that she'd been robbed!![p]LOL

Mark Backer,[p]In the past there was beer (I think keg) and soft drinks, but I can't imaging planning for such a crowd. There is also a bar at the 57th Fighter Group if you taste is more refined. I think bringing some of your own won't hurt![p]I like the analysis of things. I think I may see an opportunity to publish a piece on the "Eating Habits of Eggaholics in the Wild".[p]See ya there

Smokey,[p]And maybe my video camera to catch the specimens in their native habitat:[p]"here's mark backer eating what appears to be his third full pork tenderloin of the day. He's got a free t-shirt over each shoulder, an 'I break for eggers' visor on, and he's wearing a giant foam finger that says 'eggers like doing it where it's smokey.' [p]Wait...he appears to be making an all-out assault on the shrimp and is now headed to the keg tub. He looks desparate. Run everyone!! RUN!! [p]Oh..nevermind. He apparently saw someone handing out babyback ribs and didn't want to miss out."[p]We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
