Serious Barbecue or BBQ 25?

I am loath to take barbecue advice from someone with 3 names and no beer belly, but I've seen some of his videos and he sure seems to know what he's talking about.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

"Serious" is the one we have and it is quite good...for a city boy'n all! The "25" looks like it is intended to be placed directly on the table as a reference while one is preparing the food. It also has step by step photos of the dishes as they are being made. It is a much smaller book than "Serious"

Serious BBQ is an excellent book. All the recipes I have tried have turned out great. The back story on how he turned to BBQ and his flavour layering will make you forget his lack of a beer belly
  • I'm been using the BBQ25. It is a real hands on book, it even is printed on special board so the drippings sauce can be cleaned off. I highly recommend it. I'll be getting "Serious" because I want it too. I used his pork loin recipe for 27#s I did for a local fund raiser. Outstanding.

I have "Serious," but I'm trying to hone my project management skills to the point that I can execute one of the recipes :P . But it looks like a great book.

I have Serious Barbecue and it is quite good. Most of the recipes are a process compared to other books, but that is where the flavor layers are built. I looked at BBQ25, and I still want it, but it seemed to be a solid collection of things and techniques that were already in Serious Barbecue. I don't think you could go wrong with either personally. If you get serious Barbecue I would highly recommend the Pork Belly recipe... its the best sammich I have ever had! :woohoo: In fact... I want one now.

    Thanks all!

I think I'll order 25, and if I really like I'll order Serious (sounds like I'll probably end up owning both book anyway, but might as well start with the cheaper/more accessible of the two) ;) .

    I appreciate the feedback.

I would like to pick up Lang's Serious Barbecue, had to opt for a $135 Nutrition book...frikin' college textbooks

    His website is nicely done...

There's a three part video of Lang, Adam Carolla, and others grilling steaks in Jimmy Kimmel's backyard...

Kimmel rocks a LBGE B), they used the gasser for the video???

I have Serious and I like it's detail. I have
several other books and this one is special.
I cooked spare ribs from it last weekend
and they were the best I have ever tasted.
