A very cunning individual? I prefer to think of myself as a solver of problems and dispeller of myths. For example, this notion that you must ‘burn off’ the thick black smoke from new lump is pure nonsense. What you have all failed to realize is that there is more flavor packed into that smoke than the entire balance of the given batch of lump from which it emanates. Consider it turbo smoke. You will get a better smoke ring exposing your meat to it in 5 minutes than you will with 5 hours of non-black smoke. You’re welcome.

I know I shouldn't, but I just can't help myself:

I think it's well documented that Wess is an incredible contributor this forum and an experienced and knowledgeble egger. With that said, and with my limited time on this forum (3 or 4 months), I was unaware Wess was so volatile and Tweev was so controversial.

My first exposure from Wess was when he chastised someone for making their handle "WipemyButt" (or something very similar), stating something about this being a family forum, blah, blah, blah. So I was quite surprised with the language and threats in yesterday's posts (just read the whole thing as I was bored at work today). I also cringed at his use of referring to himself in the third person, but that's just me...I digress. But the whole threatening to quit...c'mon man, man up.

My first exposure to Tweev was comparing some burger experiences with fish sauce. I found him to be just fine and knowledgeable as well. Of course there are a lot of opinions out there and sometimes we wander in to gray areas with what we think is opinion and what we think is fact.

I personally think getting as worked up as Wess is simply not good for anyone...and Jeffersonian just rode him to get him going. Kiss and make up boys, you're both good to have around (sans personal threats) in my opinion as is Tweev and everyone else from seasoned grizzled veterans to us with moderate experience to our newbie friends who just want some good advice and make a few connections.

Yes, this site could be perceived as a "family" forum, but I'm pretty sure we're mostly adults. If your kids are going on here unsupervised or any other sites without your knowledge, well, that's just bad parenting (disclaimer, MY OPINION). I had a couple words in my profile that were described by one our kind (fellow forum egghead) as "pornographic" (really both words just described a couple of animals, chicken/cat ;-)). I considered replying to the personal email and "voicing my real opinion", but took the high road and just modified the words. (BTW, you know who you are, did you send a similar email to Wess calling him out about his language...hmmm??).

At the end of the day, this place is really cool. I love the different personalities, good advice, great pictures and even some of the reality show drama (c'mon a lot of you do too!!!).

Let's all just grab our cocktail of choice and raise our glasses to our differences and move on from this one and on to the next one!

It was somewhat entertaining. Somewhat sad. LOL. I'm a big kid. I don't get offended too easily. I take it all in stride.

I've had a number of posts I've read on here that are contrary to what I though or how I would deal with things. At times, I've offered a few bits of advice that may be different and opposing to what others have said previously (can't think of any examples), but I wasn't wrong. It works for me. Lots of things work for folks and are different. Just look at the ways of cooking ribs. Many methods, most work out great. Aside from cooking them for 2 hours. LOL. Although my chef friend begs to differ on that one.

Oh and I cook pretty soon after lighting my lump. I don't wait for it to all burn away. Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone. Same for using wood. I don't let it burn for 10-20 minutes before putting my meat on. I mix it up and have some in the middle and some on the outside. It's not all going to com-bust from the get-go, so what's the difference...? But that's for another thread.

I'll keep coming for help and offering "free" advice. It is what it is. There are alot of people on here of varying ages, education levels, social status' and so on. People are going to butt heads for whatever reason. IT is what it is. We should as a whole..... Again, I'm speaking of only a month of so of BGE forum experience, should try to keep the name calling and other juvenile acts to a minimum. A bit might keep things interesting and entertaining, but wow. I read 10 post that seemed to be the same thing. LOL.
