What do you suck at

when cooking that is, I’ll start:
I overcook meat, almost automatically
Difficulty properly operating a knife
Inability to follow instructions
How about you? C’mon, don’t be bashful, you know you suck at something, & if you don’t reply to this thread we’re all gonna think that you think you don’t suck, then you’re just gonna feel weird next time you come back here

ha ha sharpening my knifes :( hate to do it and am sure I am doing it wrong...
have to steal one of yours : Inability to follow instructions. really like to do my own thing... so maybe we are both that way Marc and it is our creative side

So...
Unless I am absolutely doing nothing but cooking...
(Without a timer)...?
I have been known to be easily disteracted!!
EvansI spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!! -
Where do I start?
Oh well, for the sake of my self esteem, I'll just list the most egregious: I can not for the life of me get a meal on the table in time. For example, an 8 pm dinner is usually served around 10 - 11 pm.
But it does have its merits. Most of my friends are so shnocked and ravenous by that time that they say they like my food. -
Presentation, staying sober whilst cooking, using or following recipes.

because I generally suck with patience, especially with stupidity, but that is another story...
I wish I did dutch ovens better. On the egg baking is good, smoking is good. I have gotten better with steaks, I guess for me it is creativity and trying new things. -
I'm with Rebecca, can't get a meal on the table when I say I am. Too much talking and drinking while cooking. Scary part, that is even when I'm in the kitchen alone!
-
fishlessman, you could use spray can cheese instead, Desert Oasis Woman swears by it, it's usually hidden in her recipes but I managed to snag this picture that she let slip out:

Glad I don't live at your house. I am usually asleep by 10PM. If I had to wait on food I'd starve

i sucked at baking pre-made choco chip cookies. ..but i don't know what gave him that idea?. ...
i know he's not very good at 'gliding'. .. -

Everything I've ever cooked at a North Georgia Eggers gathering has been awful. Being around a crowd makes me drink more.....is the only excuse I can muster.
-
Pound Cakes. They always come out as TON Cakes.
-
Gravy...I can't make a decent gravy to save my butt...sometimes the simple things elude us...LOL
-
Pete, somehow a ton cake doesn't sound badhappy in the hut

Losing weight
and patience... I try to rush things when cooking -
I suck (when I was growing up, that word was considered vulgar) at pruning... 27 stitches in my right leg proves it! BTW, Tom T Hall likes beer too!

i figured you'd say "smiling"  :woohoo:
as far as pound cakes go . . ..here is the best pound cake recipe in the world..
pound of butter
pound of sugar
pound of eggs
pound of flour
mix it all together, put it in greased/floured bunt pan. . bake at 350 for one hour
no vanilla, no baking powder or soda . . .nothing. ..
best pound cake EVER... -
and you haven't had me drive around the beltway to help you out?!!!!! even after i showed you how to tie a roast using a roll of paper towels??!!
shame on you . ...tell you what, i'll give you a gravey lesson this year at wessfest!!!. .you'll never F&^K up the gravey again!! you have my personal promise. .. -
Patience and time management. For the life of me I can't get everything for dinner to be done at the same time. Something is always sitting there getting cold waiting for something else to finish.
-
I can help. Drink more, you'll notice less  :laugh:happy in the hut

I tried that but the wife still notices. So I told her to shut up and drink more wine!

But I'm sure I was really only kidding... about your "cookies" !

Sydney...maybe not so much!!
I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!! -
I'm not real good at folding things together. I'm too impatient. I try but I end up stirring more than folding.
Also not really great at pie crusts.
Brownies are always way too gooey and undercooked. Or overcooked and burnt.
I often overcook things, just because I'm paranoid about making someone sick by undercooking. Also I get easily distracted and forget things are needing to be watched.
Um, how long of a list did you want? -
there you go!!!. ..hell, she was biting so hard her cheeks were turning red from the effort!!!. ..it was that crappy motel oven you know. ...
-
Sorry no comprende.....looked up suck in the dictionary: "The creation of a partial vacuum, or region of low pressure" It's all clear to me now.....!!!!!! Here one of my best sucks.......

Good question.
Let me begin by saying I'm a Taurus, so I have a legitimate reason for not following instructions.
That also applies to following my own advice.
I also believe that partaking of liquefied spirits is a requirement for operating a Chicken Ranch and cooking on Eggs. With all three Eggs working at the same time I tend to require three times the amount of liquefied spirits. Thus, a recipe or advice (see above) is totally ignored and often substituted with new, uh, 'Creations.'
Finally, if patience is a virtue them I'm sorely lacking in virtue. To me a 'low 'n slow' cook should be done in half the time, and a three minute sear should be ready in two minutes max. I am now adjusting my timers to accommodate my eagerness.
Other than that I'm good.
