Skirt Steak.....where do you find it?

I looked through all the local supermarkets, but came up empty. A local butcher has it but for $6.99/lb.....that is more than a ribeye at Costco. Anyone find it for a reasonable price?

  • Restaurant Depot has it. $6.99 is stupid expensive for what used to be a cheap cut of meat. Then everyone discovered how good it is...and the price went right up.
I am afraid the same thing will happen to hanger steak, which RD carries for $2.50 per lb.!

I was getting Skirt steak at Sam's Club. Then I tried some of their Flank Steak. I find the Flank more tender and has great flavor.

I just cooked a little over 4# of Flank steak yesterday. I injected heavily and marinated over night with:

    2 C Teriyaki Sauce
    3/4 C Dark Brown Sugar
3 T Texas Pete Garlic flavored hot sauce
    3 T Goulden's Spicy Brown Mustard
3 T Maple Syrup (the real stuff)
    1 T Garlic Powder
    1 T Onion Powder

I can probably cut this amount in half, the marinade recipe is to large. ;)

I egged on a raised grid, 450º to 500º dome temp. till about 120º internal. I let it chill in the frig over night, cold I can slice it thinner. This afternoon I sliced it super thin for sandwiches, tacos and anything else. It taste awesome!
