Being brand new to the BGE I tried to wash my plate setter with a little bit of dish soap. Now I am scared my food is going to taste like soap. I am hoping that i am just panicking for no good reason and if I don't do it again it will be alright. Other than that I absolutely love my BGE.

put a load of lump in, light it, put the plate setter in, close lid and let it burn... all will be OK.. after an hour or so, the heat and smoke will cure allKent Madison MS

as you were told as a kid never stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear and now as an adult never put soap or any petroleum products in your egg! The burn off advice is good. BTW in the future if you don't like your plate setter getting soiled just protect it with aluminum foil.
