Thanks for all the replies. A lot of good info.
I'm definitely going to try a lower heat (400) next time. After I cook my next set of burgers, I'll post back to let y'all know how they came out.

RVH, that sounds like a good idea. Will the Large CI grid fit down in the spider, or would I need to purchase a smaller one?

FYI, I cooked a couple burgers tonight at 400* for 5 mins on each side and they turned out much better. Juicy and perfectly charred from the Cast Iron grid.
And I didn't even burn the buns when toasting them on the grill. lol
