I have had my large BGE for about two months now and am considering getting a companion for it for those times when I may have something cooking lo and slo, or searing really high, and could use a second egg for sides, breads, whatever. I just don't know which size would be the best choice....help![p]Barbara

    BBurd,
My second egg, as with many others here one the forum, was a small.....it and the large in my opinion, make a perfect pair...Once you`ve cooked steaks on the small you will never cook em on the large again...HTH[p]Wess

BBurd, the small is a perfect companion for the large.I use the small 95% of the time and it can do anything the large can do, lo-n-slow, indirect, or high temp steak grilling. It uses very little charcoal. You can use the BGE ceramic pie dish as a plate setter.A GREAT cooker!

    BBurd,
Yep, I added a small to my collection earlier this month. Did a couple of steaks on it saturday while my two large eggs were slow cookin butts. The small is gong to be great for those meals that don't take up much grill space.

  • BBurd,
Another vote for the Small. The perfect combo with a Large, IMHO.
    Cheers,

BBurd,[p]Just bought a small to go with my large and I love it. I have found that the small works great for the quick meals and the large is great for the low and slow.

BBurd,[p]Why did you wait so long? I only waited a month after I got the large to get my small. [p]Paul

A small it is! Thanks so much for your input.
  • BBurd,
Count me in with Large & Small crowd, I am pretty happy with the combo. The small is great for high temp grilling for 2-3 people. It allows you to cook some wings, ABT, etc. when the large is doing some low and slow cooking. [p]The small is also portable, I have travelled with it quite a few times now. It also uses less charcoal and is less likely to flashback at high temps. It is a great cooker and is worth having. I would work on an extended grid setup for it. For example cooking wings and ABTs are a lot easier if you raise the grid.[p]So, it all depends on what your needs are, but it sounds like the large and small combo would work nicely for you.[p]Good luck,

    Smoke 'n Things,
You can see some variations of indirect and raised grid on the small at my website...in the tips section...HTH[p]Wess

  • WessB,
I was lucky and bought a small fire ring and medium BGE cover on Ebay after buying my small. So, when I want to raise the grid I just double up the fire ring which raises the grid up level with the bottom edge. The medium cover fits nicely over the small with the spring hinge.[p]A great thing would be if BGE made add-on fire rings and grids that were slightly bigger and would fit the expanding width of all the different egg sizes. BBurd,
how about an incredably rich big breasted blond in a butt cutter bikini that thinks you need another large BGE.
find her and let me know if she has a sister.
