Had a bunch of friends and neighbors over for our annual Fourth of July BBQ. This is the first time I've made use of the adjustable rig, to do 3 butts.

I put the pork on just before 9PM on the 3rd. Here they are rubbed and ready:

And about 10:30PM - Stoker will be on the job while I sleep:

12 hours into the cook - the Stoker status on my iPhone:

And here we are 15 hours in, and I'm opening the lid for the first time. Two butts came off a this point, and the third stayed on for about another 3 hours:

After taking the last butt off, I loaded up the Egg with a bunch of ABTs, bumped the temp to 250º and let those go for about 2.5 hours. Sorry, no pics of the ABTs, but they went quick!

Last year, I had a problem keeping the fire going all night, but this year I was much more careful about how I filled the firebox, following Elder Ward's advice here: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/elder.htm. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL this year! After a solid 20 hours of cooking, there was still fuel left, and I'm guessing it might have made it another few hours maybe if I had to.

A very successful cook! Later on, we all strolled a few blocks down to the Philadelphia Museum of Art (perhaps better known to non-locals as "The Rocky Steps") where they put on an amazing fireworks display each year following a free concert. We found a nice grassy patch and watched the fireworks, which were literally straight overhead thanks to the nice breeze (we were getting bombarded by still-glowing shrapnel during the show!) Good times!

Hope everyone else had a great Fourth!

Cheers,

__Jason
