As far as these were on the grate it should have cooked about the time the larger piece would have cooked.
I am not sure why but at 250° dome my butts cook about 1 - 1.25 hrs/lb.

I cook at 235 degrees. Meat hits a plateau and will stay at the same temperature for hours or the time it takes for the fat to breakdown into collagen. Then the cook continues and completes. You can certainly speed up this process with increased heat, but then I think you lose the tenderness you get by slow cooking the product.

I did a 400° start to finish 8# butt cook which took 6.5 hours to complete.
Unless someone had a very good palate and ate pulled pork often they would be hard pressed to tell any difference in the taste or texture of the fast cook. With that said, I usually cook pulled pork at 250°. I will bump the temperature during the cook to meat an eat deadline if that becomes necessary.
