I just bought my first DO and plan to cook some baked beans for 4th. What are tricks for cleaning and is there anything I need to do putting it on the first time? Novice user learning to ask before I waste a whole day.

If it is not pre seasoned, you need to do that before using it. The beans will likely stick some even it it was preseasoned. It would not hurt to season it more before using anyway. Whatever you do, when cleaning it NO SOAP!! Just water, heat & elbow grease.
