For those of you with large models (large BGE that is, I know what some of you were thinking), how many steaks can you fit on there? If you've seen the XL prototype, how many steaks could you get on it?[p]Thanks.

cbs,[p]I think it depends on what cut you are cooking. I have a large and do some kind of steak (AT LEAST) once a week.[p]I have become a bit of a steal snob and really preffer Filets. You can fit alot of them on a large egg (at least 10). We also cook Falank Stake, Skirt Steak and London Broil on a regular basis. 3 or 4 should bot be an issue with these.[p]Smokey

cbs,
good question, bet you could jam about 14 filet mignon on a large so probably a couple dozen on the xl. next question is how fast can you flip'em
-
4-6 healthy T-bones or porterhouses, 8-12 N.Y. Strips depending on size, 8-10 boneless ribeyes for the large. The XL held 55 large sausages with no problem and I don't know how many burgers. I'm guessing that it would almost double the above amounts except for maybe the T-bones/porterhouses.[p]Jim

JSlot, you could even double this by searing more pieces of the tbones, letting them rest, and roasting them all with a 2 level grill.
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
cbs,
The answer to your question lies in the area of a circle. Area equals pi (3.14) r squared. The grill rack on the large Egg is 254 square inches. The grill rack on the extra large Egg is 452 square inches. The extra large is 78 percent larger. The small Egg grill rack is 133 inches and the medium Egg grill rack is 177 square inches.

cbs,[p]I was told by John, the customer service manager at BGE, that they cooked 26 whole chickens on one 2 weeks ago in Mexico when they went to approve the final casting. WOW!!![p]MC
-
Marine Cook,[p]Wow! With cooking area like that, anyone with a Large is going to wish that they had an XL.

Very true. I'm just not a sear 'n' rest man. I cook mine in one session on the grill.[p]Frosty Ones!
