Hi , I need help buying a remote thermometer . I'm looking for one of the best. :)

    Most here use the Maverick ET-73 or variant. Some have good luck with it and others not so much. They have a few different models to choose from. The ET-73 ranges from $39.00 to $50.00 depending on your area. Sometimes Lowe's or Home Depot carry a Weber style, agian it is hit or miss on how well they work. You might want to start cheap and move up if you find the cheaper models don't work will for you. I have an ET-73 and it only wokrs when the receiver is located in my home office. Kinda sucks cause the last thing I wan to do on the weekend is to go in my office to check on cook temps.

    I picked up a cheap one at Walmart last week, only $16, and loved it. 100' range able to set target temps, worked everywhere in my house. Did get some odd looks from the family until they ate the brisket then it became a great purchase.

    I think that would be my choice, if I was to buy again. Got an ET-73, remote works fine, receiver is garbage. Rcvr won't pick up from 10 feet away, reset it and same thing all over again. I finally just used my binoculars. That got some real strange looks. :silly:

    A piece of wire and a little solder can fix the ET-73 range problems.
