To make sure this is not totally OT, here's my last minute weekend cook after father's day eat-out dinner was rescheduled ... tandoori chicken marinated in foodsaver marinator for just one hour, curried potato and okra, mango salad, basmati pilaf.
(marinade: fresh ginger, garlic, lemon, sour cream, commercial tandoori powder, salt)

We're just two days from G20, the city is already like a ghost town. I work downtown and driving to/from work is easier than Sunday morning! Decided to take a walk in the 'hood' at lunch time today.
First, a protest organised by First Nations (20,000 expected but I didn't see a huge crowd, may be I missed the Bigger one earlier at Queen's Park)...
They are protesting outside the US Consulate

I heard it's impossible to rent a van this week because they're used to carry police from across the country ...

Garbage bins removed so they can't be used by rioters ...

Police at every street corner ...

The infamous Fence ...

A quick rest under the shade ...

Need at least $1.8 mil to be in Donald's company ...

Thanks for visiting!

Nice pictures Gary, thanks! I heard the whole story on the radio. Locals are pissed because they are loosing $$ trying to get into downtown to do biz. I guess restaurants are being compensated but the curriors/taxi folks aren't.
What's up with the big screen fake lake?...seriously, what are they thinking on that one?
Fabulous color on the chick!!Molly

Thanks Molly. Yup, it costing us >one billion$ The fake lake is a silly attempt to promote tourism. Cops from across the country are flown in and hotelled, etc.

Gary, your tandoori chicken and the potato, okra curry with the accompaniments looks fabulous. Always love your pics!
I've been following the Canadian prep for the G20 on NPR, it's been interesting. -
Thanks Rebecca, yes this G20 affair is impacting a lot of people, never seen such police presence before. School buses are not running Friday, business folks being advised to dress casual, work from home, etc. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds the next few days.

Things got ugly today, what I saw two days ago was child's play. Sorry no photos, I stayed home and watched two great football matches.canuckland
