I just tried ordering a pork belly and the butcher told me all he could get was frozen 4lb packages. Anyone buy frozen belly to make bacon?

sure. still better than store bought bacon
my first one was from a 5 pound frozen chunk that even had freezer burn
best would be fresh, sure... -
Can't be all that expensive. Give it a go.
I get most of my meat hard frozen. The texture is generally better than what I get chilled from the market. -
Thanks guys. I just called another market and the butcher is calling me tomorrow. Maybe I'll buy both and post the comparison. Can never have too much bacon.

It took me a long time to find a source for pork bellies. Just keep trying different markets and food suppliers. I know that Restaurant Depot carries them but you can only buy in large quantities. If you have a few people that are interested that may be a option for you. I did not go that route as my friends all think I'm crazy for making stuff like bacon and such but they have no trouble eating it.Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.

Are they frozen at RD? What size packages?
I asked another question on your Baocn thread also.
