plate setter question

Unknown
edited -0001 30 in EggHead Forum
When I use my plate setter, I have a difficult time regulating the temp. Is the a common problem? What am I doing wrong???[p]The heat, humidity and mosquitos are so bad here in Miami tonight that I'm not even going to try to light the egg tonight. Ahh, the joy of living in the tropics.... :(

    CindyLou,
A couple of things happen when you put the platesetter in - 1) there is a significant change in airflow (read: big plate blocking the usual direct line between the bottom and the top) and 2) more ceramic mass to heat up.[p]Stick with it CindyLou - it takes some practice - but allow more time for the temp to stablize (or if you have the oven on you can go ahead an preheat the platesetter in there) - and you will have to readjust the air intake and daisy wheel from what you normally do - [p]Practice is all...
    Cold beers to you![p]Cap'n

  • Cap'n,
I assumed it had to do with the air circulation. I'll have to see if the problem is better on windy days!
