Big box store $8 or so.

Mine is from the top of a gas pool heater.

For years I have used a coffee can with holes punched in it around the top edge.

all a rain cap is is a vent cap available at any big box store in the heating and cooling supply department.

You can rig it as seen below, or just buy one from your dealer!

I'm still trying to figure out if he wants to cook with it or is just looking for the BGE ceramic cap. The latter was my guess

Ceramic top: BGE dealer or atlanta.

Metal "chimney cap" to cook in the rain: home depot or lowes. They are sold as a cap for a "type b gas vent" which is normally used at the top of a metal chimney pipe for a gas furnace. The large egg has a fairly large "pipe" so you need one whose collar can be cinched down to 5.5 to 6 inches (which is large by furnace/water heater standards). The price has gone up compared to prior posts (think $20, not $8).
