all a rain cap is is a vent cap available at any big box store in the heating and cooling supply department.

I'm still trying to figure out if he wants to cook with it or is just looking for the BGE ceramic cap. The latter was my guess

Metal "chimney cap" to cook in the rain: home depot or lowes. They are sold as a cap for a "type b gas vent" which is normally used at the top of a metal chimney pipe for a gas furnace. The large egg has a fairly large "pipe" so you need one whose collar can be cinched down to 5.5 to 6 inches (which is large by furnace/water heater standards). The price has gone up compared to prior posts (think $20, not $8).
