Just received an AR, pizza stone, and drip pan that I ordered. Which setup do most people use when cooking a butt low and slow?

Do you have the spider? If you do put it on the fire ring and set the stone on it. Use the cross bars for your drip pan on one of the lower settings. Then throw your butt on the top of the rig. If not then put the rig on the egg with the cross bars in the lowest setting. Put the drip pan on the cross bars and place the grid on top and throw your butt on. I most often use the spider on bottom with the stone and then the cross bars with drip pan and then butt. I also cook with just the platesetter like I did from the start if I only have one or two butts. I got the rig so I could use the spider with stone and drip foil on top of it and have room when I add the rig to have two grates to cook four butts.

Thanks for the input. I have the spider as well and will try that setup.

This is my butt set-up.
This chicken rack would be where the first butts go, with plenty of room on top for another grid and more butts.
