Did you see the banner at the top? I guess it's being moved to the Atlanta Speedway. They're gonna be transporting a lot of eggs over there! I wonder how big it can grow to now!?!

EggtoberFest, in my opinion, should be changed.
I believe EggtoberFest should be closed to the public and held for Dealers and distributors only. Kind of like a training retreat. A chance to meet and network for the dealers would help us all.
Most of the members on the forum believe we should buy from and support our local dealers and many members are less than pleased with the Egg knowledge of their dealer. This would help address the problem.
Hundreds of Eggs are sold at Eggtoberfest in Atlanta that would or could be sold by local dealers. It’s not just the sale of the Egg but getting to meet the host dealer and staff is lost. Many people will skip local Eggfests to attend EggtoberFest in Atlanta.
I’m just not sure if the crew in Atlanta are doing more harm than good to their dealers and us in the end.
Please, this is not a stab at BGE or the history of EggtoberFest. They are great people and have helped me so much in the past.
I just wanted to voice another view. It might be time for BGE to turn the Eggfests over to the local dealers and spend their time helping the local dealers create a great local Eggfest to sell their product.
    Thank you,

    This is an interesting observation.

The smaller/regional eggfests have a more intimate atmasphere and have a very different flavor than the "BIG KAHOONA".

Certainly, the need for something for dealers is understandable and may be in order!

    Darian,

One of my biggest pet peeves is unknowledgeable dealers. I truly believe the only good dealers are those that have egg users working in the store. They understand or should have a pretty good idea of the ins and outs.

Eggs are mostly sold by other eggheads and the succesful dealers are going to be the ones that are 'in the know', not just a store with an egg in the corner.

Eggtoberfest was started (or so I've been told) to thank the 'grassroots' type sales force they rely so heavily on. The general users like me. I'm on about an egg and a half per month sales history. Just love it

Can't wait to meet you this winter.

Looking foreward to your Winterfest this year as well.
Please keep me in the loop.

I do understand the history of the EggtoberFest and grassroots thanks. It's good to have strong roots but they can also crack strong foundations as they grow.
I'm not saying I'm right with my opinion. I just wanted to look at this from another angle and what might help us all in the long run and help build a stronger dealer.
keep selling Eggs. Your dealers should give you discount points...
    Take care,

    Randy,

The fest last year was small but nice. They are a little far for me and my pals, but they do have a pretty healthy 'egg' section in the store. Had a small hick-up with one you didn't mention, but got through it. If everything works out, I'll miss it this year, I'll be Niagara. :woohoo:

Darian, you would be an asset at every fest you and your lovely wife showed up to. I was pleased you showed up to Plano last year. ;)

    Thank you Steve,
You did all the work. We just showed up to cook, eat and drink. Or was it drink, drink and cook?
What are the plans for this year?

EGGtoberfest has always been about the EGGheads and always will be. The distributors have a yearly meeting where we attend to their needs and the distributors have dealer meetings where they attend to their needs.

EGGtoberfest is the place for folks to come and cook/eat some great food, teach/learn some cool techniques, and see old friends and make new friends.

Of course we can't forget the need of all the cooks to just plain show off....which to me is the most awesome part of any fest and EGGtoberfest is the grandest of all the stages to show off on.

This year is going to be different but I think everyone who came in the past few years is ready for different. I know folks are worried about it getting too big and losing the "feel" of EGGtoberfest but I think this year is going to take us all back to the more "cozy" feel of the 57th fighter group days.

There's going to be camping available and encouraged in the infield of the track where all the action is going to be. Imagine the pre, during, and after parties that can take place there. Get a group of friends together and rent an RV and park it in the middle of everything.

EGGtoberfest is just fine the way it is and we'll take care of the distributors and dealers in more appropriate ways. I do like your thought and point though and thank you for posting it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone there this year, it's going to be great.

So if we are camping in the in-field (which is way cool all by itself) do we bring our own eggs too?

One is coming...maybe tomorrow afternoon. Unless you call me first. I'll be super tied up until after 3:00 and then will be on the way to a contest.
